2. Save

If you are even vaguely considering a career switch – save. Save as much as you possibly can. Avoid eating out. Get the crappier apartment. Sneak your own booze into bars. Whatever it takes, save, and save as much as you can. Don’t find yourself stuck in a dead-end, despised job simply because you have no safety net. If you get an opportunity for an internship at your fantasy job, or a lower-paying job at your dream corporation, you don’t want to find yourself having to turn it down because of a lack of funds. Similarly, if it turns out you’re going to need to take classes to get ahead or get out, you don’t want to be stuck forgoing them. Save as much as you possibly can. Then save some more. Your future self will thank you later.
